I would agree & disagree with you a little. I Have a Macbook Pro 13, m1 chip so not apples to apples comparison (But in a way it isšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‰). So good on Apple for giving people a quality experience. I’m sure this applies to most PCs within the Mac mini price range, given the prevalence of Realtek audio. It completely changes the sound, has no depth, ruins the soundstage, and has low dynamic range.

It sounds like absolute trash compared to the Mac mini. Something has to be said about the Realtek audio on Asus x570 Tuf Gaming Plus motherboard. There’s a deeper and slightly more pronounced bottom end that makes tracks even more solid and authoritative.ā€ ā€œPlug a quality pair of headphones into the Air and you’ll get a brilliantly crisp, punchy and dynamic delivery, one that’s actually more open and weightier than that of the (iPad) Mini. If you guys want some context, here’s the audio review of the iPad Air 3 from WhatHifi, and the Mac mini M1 sounds better by far. It sounds super dynamic, open, clear, and 3D. To my ears, the Mac mini M1 headphone output sounds better than Better than my Sound Blaster X3, iPad Air 3 Headphone Jack, Apple USB C to 3.5mm Adapter, iPhone lighting to 3.5mm adapter, my monitor, AudioQuest Dragonfly Red, and especially my Windows PC motherboard Realtek audio. All of my audio equipment is solidly meh. I figured it would be the average good enough cheap audio output common on most devices.ÄÆull disclaimer though, I’m no audiophile. So I didn’t think much of the headphone jack on the Mac mini when I got it.
